Responsibilities: 

  • Follow up on discrepancies with TOP team members, customers, or carriers to find solutions.
  • Source carriers, negotiate rates, problem solve, and manage issues.
  • Assist with entering load information into the TMS.
  • Assist ops team members with special projects and tasks.
  • Track shipments and provide feedback to customers and carriers.

Summary

The Software System Admin is responsible for all matters relating to the development, implementation, and continual improvement of the transportation management system and other software applications that interface with the TMS. This role is also responsible for maintaining a reporting system that will generate periodic, timely and accurate reports to members of the executive management team and departmental managers as to the status of the information systems.  The Software System Admin will ensure all hardware, software and communications systems related to the TMS are properly functioning to provide support for all company functional activities.  This role will continually seek to improve the functionality, stability, performance, reliability and data integrity for all company information systems.

Responsibilities

  1. Create and/or assist in the creation of the annual strategic plan for information technology objectives.
  2. Provide system support and help desk services for all applications approved for use on the company’s IT system.
  3. Create and/or assist in the creation of company strategic training and organizational development plans to meet the personal, professional and organizational needs of company employees.
  4. Coordinate with other departments for the development and production of management reports that will be used to make strategic and tactical business decisions.
  5. Seek to provide 100% functionality on all core operating platforms and redundant communication backup systems.
  6. Develop, communicate and enforce a robust data integrity, data recovery and disaster recovery program for all management information systems.
  7. Maintain knowledge of changing technology and its impact on the information systems of the company.
  8. Recommend and maintain department staffing levels to accomplish company goals and objectives.
  9. Ensure that all procedures for all internal processes within the department, including work instructions, reports and forms are properly documented.
  10. Establish, implement and maintain short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures including key performance indicators (KPI).
  11. Develop, implement and continually improve processes and procedures that will ensure proper collection, storage, safeguarding, updating and retrieval of all system documents.
  12. Other responsibilities as may be assigned.

Education/Training

A four year degree is preferred for this position in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Network Design or Computer Science, or relevant work experience.

Experience

This position requires a minimum 5 years experience in software administration.

Working Conditions

The working conditions will be varied to include a normal office environment.  Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.  Occasional overnight and workday travel may be required.
